Usage:
Cleaning of glass-surfaces of any kind including mirrored surfaces.
History/Background:
Micr ofibre was developed around 1990. Special areas of usage for the new material only appeared later around 1995. Microfibre is produced from polyester or polyamide. There are three types of microfibre which are categorised by diameter: If 10,000 metres of a single microfibre thread has got a weight of less than 1 gram it’s called microfibre. At a weight of less than 0.5 grams it is called Ultrafine microfibre and when the weight is under 0.3 grams it’s known as Superfine microfibre. The MicroWipe™ is made from Superfine microfibre. To draw a comparison: you have to take about 100 microfibres to achieve the thickness of a human hair. Up to now the fibre was divided chemically. The MicroWipe™ fibre is divided mechanically to produce the extremely small superfine-microfibres. The high abrasive, non-scratch power of the fibres means that usage of chemicals can be reduced to a minimum. The cleaning power is so strong so that even furniture polish will be removed. The MicroWipe™ can be laundered using 1/3rd of the normal amount of washing-powder. Microfibre should be washed separately, otherwise it can pick up fibres from cotton or other materials. Fabric softener should not be used as this would withdraw the static energy of the fibres and would lose some of its qualities. Never use chlorine as this would lead to a melting of the fibres and the sleeve would become unusable.
Technical features:
Fibres Unger uses superfine Microfibre for the MicroWipe™ Diameter of one fibre: 6,5 m (è 100 microfibres are as thick as a human hair) The structure of its minute fibres gives extraordinary water absorption capacity – more than 6 times the fibres own weight and spread evenly throughout the length of the sleeve. Cleans without leaving behind streaks or annoying lint. Excellent pick up and holding of dirt within the fibre. High abrasive, non-scratch qualities. Can be used with chemicals, but these can be kept to a minimum or not used at all dependant on soilage. Cloth Unger recommends laundry of the cloth before first use, to wash out any specific dust remaining from the manufacturing process and gain the full cleaning capabilities of MicroWipe™. The MicroWipe™ is designed for washing at 100°C without a fabric softener. In interest of conservation, however, we recommend washing at 60°C. At a size of 24 X 32 Inch, the Micro Wipe™ is bigger than usual microfibre cloths. This enables the user to clean bigger surfaces and it fits better in the hand. The cloth has two different surfaces: the rough side is perfect for cleaning, the fine side is better for polishing. The cloth can be used dry for polishing, and damp (not wet!) for cleaning |
